The Practice
Tune into the language that connects us all
As we walk through our day-to-day life, we are picking up all kinds of sounds without our conscious awareness. Many sounds can have a huge impact on our overall clarity and give erratic feedback to our nervous system. Urban environments can create a lot of sounds that we grow accustomed to. A fan, traffic noises, and the way indoor spaces house sound can create a buzz of stress and chaos that can leave us feeling out of sorts.
Ancient ideas cross-culturally repeat a concept that sound can be a powerful anchor that crosses the bridge of body and spirit. Tools all over the world have been used in ceremonies, meditation, and healing practices to tune the individual body into harmonious frequencies.
The ancient form of Nāda Yoga is the idea that the entire universe and everything in it has a vibratory essence called nāda that weaves the world into existence. All forms sing, and this is true of every cellular structure in our body, the way the brain creates waves that affect our well-being, and the way we read our own safety and sense of peace.
Sound and music are the unspoken language that connects us to each other. We create harmony in the way we see each other and gather through these tools. Join the MĀ Yoga team in an exploration of sound as a healing tool and a way to bring us into balance.
